Reading:
Our reading unit for May is focusing on Social Issues.  Students have chosen to read books that have social issues hidden in them.  Some of the social issues students have discovered in their books are racism, fitting in, bullying, war, etc.

Some of the books that have been chosen by our class to read are: The Lemonade War, Lilly's Crossing, Fish in a Tree, Shiloh, There's a Boy in the Girl's Bathroom.

Storyworks Student Login

Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge- more information to follow.  Students will be given a username and password to sign into scholastic over the summer.  They will be able to log their reading times, books, etc. on this site.

Writing:
We are finishing our informational writing unit.  Students have been researching a variety of topics.  Students will not only strengthen their researching skills, but they will also take that research and write an informational book.  Students have chosen to research historical events, animals, and natural disasters. They have created informational books on their google classroom pages.  They had added text features such as photographs & captions, text boxes, and timelines.
